What is the community car scheme?

S.W.R.C. Car Scheme is provided by a wonderful team of volunteers operating within the communities of Kinlochewe, Torridon, Alligin, Diabaig, Shieldaig, the Applecross Peninsula, Kishorn, Achintraid, Ardaneaskan, Lochcarron, Strathcarron, Glencarron, Achnasheen and Kyle of Lochalsh.

Who is eligible to travel?

It is open to all residents and their associates who, for whatever reason, are unable to use public transport for their journey and have no means of private transport. It can be used for any local journeys, e.g to access surgeries, mobile clinics, services, shops and amenities, church, community events, onward public transport or just to visit friends ....

If you are not sure just ask!

(We are sorry, but we do not provide lifts to and from the pub, nor can we offer regular transport to places of work.)

How do I book a journey?

Call the booking line on 01445 791 436 between 9.30am and 2.00pm, Monday to Fridays.

How much does it cost?

There is a charge of 20p per mile for every mile passengers are in the car, up to maximum fare of £6 for any single or return journey made on the same day.

If you travel with a friend or neighbour, you can share the fare!

Here are some fare examples.

 5 miles = £1
15 miles = £3
30 miles = £6
40 miles = £6
